Batshuayi scores lone goal in Marseille's 1st home win since September

A wacky goal from Michy Batshuayi proved the difference in Marseille's 1-0 win Saturday over relegation candidate Reims, the club's first victory at the Stade de Velodrome in nearly eight months.

Marseille last claimed all three points at home on Sept. 13 against Bastia, going another 15 matches without success, and at one point falling precariously close to the drop zone.

Supporters began to show up merely to deride the players and owner Margarita Louis-Dreyfus.

"Go back to your real job, housewife," read one of the banners in an April 10 fixture.

Louis-Drefus elected to put the club up for sale days later. Michel then lost his job as Marseille's manager.

Fortunes have changed in the meantime. Marseille is undefeated in the four matches under caretaker Franck Passi, with Batshuayi scoring the winners in consecutive 1-0 victories.
