Hugo Sanchez urges Malaga's Ochoa to 'show his fangs more'

Real Madrid and Mexico legend Hugo Sanchez believes compatriot Guillermo Ochoa "needs to show his fangs more" at Malaga if he is to usurp Carlos Kameni from between the sticks.

Ochoa impressed for his country at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, earning admiring glances from numerous clubs. It was Malaga who eventually secured his services, but he has been able to win a spot in goal ahead of Kameni after one-and-a-half seasons with Los Boquerones.

"The fact that he has had this chance plus the experience of three seasons in France with Ajaccio that has been enough time for him to get used to Europe. But I think he needs to show his fangs more," Sanchez told ESPN FC.

"One of the greatest (ever) goalkeepers is from Cameroon, (Thomas) N'Kono. And if Kameni can get coaching from N'Kono, that is a problem too."

Sanchez lauded the performances of Kameni, as the 31-year-old has made himself indispensable at La Rosaleda, but suggested Ochoa could do with a move elsewhere.

"Kameni is better positioned and he is showing a better level of football (than Ochoa is) since he arrived. He has improved a lot," he continued.

"Kameni is showing his pride and playing better every day. So I think 'Memo' Ochoa is wasting his time in Spain."

The 30-year-old was benched for Mexico's last outing against Honduras, with El Tri returning for a friendly against Senegal on February 9.
