Report: Orlando City nearing loan deal for Queretaro's Gil
Gallos de Queretaros' Luis Gil is reportedly on Orlando City SC's radar.
According to ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle, a loan deal that will see Gil join Orlando City from Queretaro is nearing completion, as the two clubs have agreed to the terms. The Lions are apparently poised to send $50,000 in Targeted Allocation Money for 2018 to Real Salt Lake in exchange for the player's rights, and RSL will receive another $50,000 in TAM should the American midfielder join the Florida-based club on a permanent basis.
It was reported on Major League Soccer's official website four days ago that Orlando City's pursuit of Gil had hit a snag, as Queretaro was struggling with the financial terms that would send the youngster to the Lions for the remainder of the 2017 MLS season. The complication is allegedly resolved.
Gil spent six seasons at RSL before making the move to Liga MX, during which time he tallied 11 goals and nine assists in 134 appearances in MLS.
In Orlando, Gil would be reunited with Jason Kreis, who was the player's first manager at RSL when he joined the club as a 16-year-old.
