Gareth Bale on pitch in Andorra: 'By far the worst I've ever played on'

Simply put, the pitch at Andorra's Camp d'Esports del M.I. Consell General needs some serious improvement.

Rubber crumbs continually came up from the base of the field during Wales' 2-1 win over Andorra on Tuesday, leading manager Chris Coleman to say that it was "not up to the standard of a UEFA qualifier" following the match.

That was a light way to put it, and Coleman even admitted that he had held off on complaining about the quality of the pitch until the final whistle.

Gareth Bale, on the other hand, had a much more direct take on the pitch upon the match's completion.

"This is by far the worst pitch I've ever played on," Bale told the BBC with a smile. "But it's the same for both teams and I think we said in the changeroom before the game no matter how we get the three points we get them and that's what we did."

Andorra's next home match is scheduled for Oct. 13 against Israel, hopefully on an improved pitch.
