Report: Costa wants out of Chelsea; Conte targets Cavani, Higuain as replacement

Antonio Conte has only just been confirmed as the new bench boss at Chelsea, but even before his arrival at Stamford Bridge, the Italian seems to have an important decision on his hands.

Striker Diego Costa is "desperate" to leave the Premier League side, Matt Law of the Telegraph reports, with the Spaniard thought to be looking for a move back to Atletico Madrid. The bombastic 27-year-old is "fed up with life in England and nonstop scrutiny over his discipline," according to Law.

Costa's struggles this season have been emblematic of Chelsea's dour campaign. He's been hit with multiple bans for a series of unsavory incidents, and combined with niggling injuries, those suspensions have limited him to 11 Premier League goals this season.

As a result, Conte, who will arrive in west London at the conclusion of Italy's involvement at Euro 2016, is already on the hunt for potential replacements.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani, long rumoured to be searching for a club that will allow him to play in his preferred role as a central striker, is reportedly being considered, while Napoli's Gonzalo Higuain is another name being linked with Conte and Chelsea.

Neither, however, would come cheap. With PSG expected to lose talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, it's unlikely the French side would allow Cavani to follow him out the door without significant financial compensation.

Higuain, meanwhile, is in the midst of a potentially record-breaking season - netting 30 Serie A goals in 31 matches - and is saddled with an enormous €95-million buyout clause, according to the club.
