Seems a ninth-place standing and slim European hopes aren't the only thing going pear shaped on the Merseyside, as Liverpool first-choice shot-stopper Simon Mignolet's been promoting Belgium's finest pomaceous fruits.

Born and bred in Sint-Truiden, a Belgian town famous for its produce, the 28-year-old has stayed loyal to his roots, promoting the football-themed pears courtesy of local Fruit Innovation Farmers association.
No word yet if Arsenal's Per Mertersacker or Hartlepool vet Adam Bartlett have been contacted to join Mignolet in his pear-pushing pursuits.
