Courtois unsure over Chelsea future

Chelsea may be in need of a new keeper this summer, after Thibaut Courtois admitted his uncertainty over whether he will remain with the Blues beyond this season.

The Belgian shot-stopper was unwilling to guarantee he would be back between the pipes at Stamford Bridge next year, following a campaign where injuries and poor defensive performances have prevented Courtois from coming close to repeating last season's superb performances during Chelsea's title-winning campaign.

"I don't know," Courtois when Belgian media outlet RTBF, as translated by ESPNFC, asked if he's ready to leave Chelsea after the season. "I still have a contract for three years so we'll see what Chelsea want too."

This season will mark the first in Courtois' career where he will end it without hoisting a trophy following Chelsea's elimination from the Champions League and FA Cup, including its dismal title defence in the Premier League.

But Courtois says he's focused on finishing the season strong ahead of the European Championship with Belgium this summer in France, and even offered hope to supporters regarding his future in a Chelsea strip.

"It's a pity that we're out of the FA Cup and the Champions League but I'm going to try to finish the season well and have a good European Championship with Belgium," he said.

"Then we'll start a new season with a new manager (at Chelsea) with the hope of doing a lot better than this year."
