Koscielny overcomes calf issue to make Arsenal squad vs. Barcelona

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny is fit to play Wednesday against Barcelona after manager Arsene Wenger confirmed the Frenchman had replaced Calum Chambers in the 18-man matchday squad.

Koscielny hasn't played since Feb. 28, when he damaged his calf in a 3-2 loss to Manchester United. Arsenal has only managed to win one game in his absence, an FA Cup replay against Hull City, with Gabriel taking Koscielny's place in the lineup.

It is uncertain whether Koscielny is fit enough to start at the Camp Nou, where Barcelona looks to secure its passage to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The Blaugrana carry a 2-0 advantage on aggregate into the second leg, but Wenger still believes his team can produce the impossible.

"The Champions League is very important for us and we fought hard to be in there. We made a miracle to be in here after Olympiakos, so we have to deliver something special, and I'm convinced that a great result tomorrow would be a big boost for the rest of the season," Wenger said Tuesday at a pre-match news conference. "You never know."
