Cech, Koscielny ruled out of north London derby with calf injuries

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny and goalkeeper Petr Cech will miss Saturday's derby against Tottenham after suffering calf injuries before and during Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Swansea City.

Manager Arsene Wenger confirmed Cech, who experienced groin trouble going into the fixture, sustained a "muscular problem" towards the end of a shocking night at the Emirates. Koscielny didn't even make the matchday squad, as he failed to pass a late fitness test.

That means backup David Ospina will start in goal for the Gunners at White Hart Lane. Gabriel Paulista will likely take Koscielny's place for the trip as well.

Wenger couldn't give a timetable for Cech's return. Koscielny's injury was only listed as a "slight" issue before kickoff.

Cech has started 28 Premier League matches this season - more than any other Arsenal player - and his saves have accounted for several points.

Ospina, meanwhile, is set to make his first league appearance of the campaign.
