Liverpool's Sturridge in contention to start vs. Aston Villa

Daniel Sturridge could be in line to feature in Liverpool's starting squad for the first time in over two months Saturday against Aston Villa.

Sturridge's lone appearance since returning from a hamstring injury came Tuesday when he was brought on as a substitute during Liverpool's FA Cup loss to West Ham United.

While all signs point to the 26-year-old being ready to feature in the starting team, Klopp wasn't willing to commit to giving Sturridge his first start since Dec. 2.

"He played about 70 minutes, he's had normal recovery," Klopp told reporters.

"We need to think about how he can manage minutes but he made a big step in the last week and I've made no final decisions about line-up. Until now, everything is like it should be."

Along with forward Divock Origi's return from injury, Sturridge will provide a fresh option for Klopp as Christian Benteke's woes in front of goal show no signs of ending as the Belgian increased his goalless drought to 668 minutes during the 2-1 defeat at West Ham.
