Report: Terry not expected to be offered new Chelsea deal despite Zouma's injury

John Terry's departure from Chelsea at the end of the season is still on despite Kurt Zouma's season-ending injury.

Chelsea has been left a bit thin at the back after Zouma was ruled out for up to six months after suffering a knee injury Sunday against Manchester United.

But Terry will continue to count down the days until his final Chelsea match as the team has currently decided not to offer the club's captain a new deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge beyond the current campaign, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph.

Terry told reporters last week that this will be his last season at Chelsea because the team has decided not to renew his contract.

With Zouma expected to recover in time for the beginning of the 2016-17 season, Terry's services will not be required as an emergency replacement.

However, the club has not completely ruled out a return as it will give the next permanent manager the final say when Guus Hiddink's time as interim manager is over after the season.

In the meantime, Gary Cahill figures to see increased playing time in Zouma's absence, while Chelsea is also considering whether to recall Andreas Christensen back from his loan spell with Borussia Monchengladbach.
