Radamel Falcao hasn't given up hope of escaping from his nightmare loan spell at Chelsea, with his agent Jorge Mendes looking to broker a lucrative transfer to the Chinese Super League.

The Colombian looked set for a return to Atletico Madrid at the end of the January transfer window, but the move was apparently scuppered due to the La Liga outfit's inability to offload fellow striker Jackson Martinez.

Falcao is still owned by AS Monaco but the club would prefer he doesn't come back to the principality. It has, however, shown a willingness to help him find an alternative loan destination than Stamford Bridge, and the Guardian's Dominic Fifield reports that could be a team in China.

Seemingly out of nowhere, the People's Republic has emerged as an increasingly attractive location for a footballer to ply his trade due to the cash that's available. Chelsea offloaded Ramires to mid-table side Jiangsu Suning for a whopping £25 million this month - and Paris Saint-Germain's Zlatan Ibrahimovic is rumoured as a potential future teammate.

Despite his succession of thigh injuries and the fact that he's turning 30 next week, Falcao would still prove a crowd-drawing proposition in Asia. The Chinese Super League transfer window closes on February 26, so players are still able to transfer from England to the burgeoning division.
