Gotze pours cold water on rumours of Liverpool move, Klopp reunion

Mario Gotze is just fine at Bayern Munich, thank you very much.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who has been sidelined since October through injury, has inevitably been linked with a move to Liverpool of late - a development that should come as little surprise following the Reds' appointment of Jurgen Klopp, who worked with the tiny playmaker when the two men were at Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking on Saturday, Gotze moved to quell speculation that he could be on his way to Anfield this month for a reunion with his former bench boss.

"I can rule out a move to Liverpool this winter," Gotze was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. "I don't know where the rumours about Klopp and me are coming from.

"I have not heard anything. You should ask Klopp if he wants me at Liverpool. If he wants me, he should approach me."

The club's sporting director, Matthias Sammer, addressed the rumours in a far more straightforward manner when asked about them on Friday, saying: "There is new nonsense every day. I don't want to say more about it."
