Petr Cech reveals Arsenal move was inspired by pursuit of domestic title

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech is dreaming of domestic glory once more, but in a shade of London red rather than London blue.

Cech joined Arsenal after winning the domestic title with Chelsea four times since 2004-2005. After being shopped around by Jose Mourinho and finally settling in with Arsene Wenger's team, Cech is now looking to repeat that feat one more time.

"I always wanted to go to a team which could win," Cech told reporters. "If I didn't believe that I was going to a team which could win, then I don't know why I would come. I play football not to only enjoy it - and I love the challenge of playing and competing with the best players - but I want to have the chance to win games."

Arsenal last won the Premier League title in the 2003-2004 season.

"I believe this team has the qualities to win games, and hopefully we will manage to go all the way in the league," Cech said. "I believe this team has the capabilities of doing it."

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League table, tied with Leicester City in points (39), but with a superior goal difference. And, while Arsenal have one more win than the Foxes, the Gunners have four losses to Leicester's two. It seems the top of the table will be tightly contested throughout the year, a prospect Cech is relishing.

"(It has been a) very interesting this year because the table keeps changing every other week," Cech said. "As long as we are there in March and are in a position where we can win the league, then it's fine - it will only depend on us."
