Mourinho sends his regards to Europa League-bound Casillas

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho couldn't resist taking a quick little dig at Iker Casillas following a 2-0 win over FC Porto.

The two worked together at Real Madrid, where Mourinho was manager and Casillas, the club's long-standing captain. They also infamously got along poorly, with Mourinho dropping the goalkeeper that Madrid fans call a saint in favour of Diego Lopez.

Chelsea's win sends Casillas - now at Porto - crashing out of the Champions League, and Mourinho sent his good tidings and farewell in signature fashion when speaking with Spanish TV station Mega.

"No problem. I've done my job and he has done his, and he has done well," Mourinho said, as quoted by ESPN FC. "Now Casillas can win the only trophy he hasn't won, and if Porto win the Europa League I'll be happy."

It's akin to wishing a relegation-bound team well next season; sure, a trophy win would be nice, but at a lower level, it's not quite as well-received. Whether Mourinho's words had two meanings or not won't matter to Casillas, though, who spoke with Sport TV after the match.

"We left the best competition and now we go to Europa League, where we will try to do better," Casillas said. "We all aspire to play in the Champions League and now we need to accept the defeat. I'm going to a new competition and with great motivation."
