Environmental group rips Arsenal for planned 14-minute flight to Norwich

As it's never an easy voyage to the outer reaches of Norfolk, Arsenal decided to simplify matters before its Sunday fixture at Norwich City by organizing a flight to East Anglia.

The two-and-a-half-hour drive up the A11 from Islington was scrapped for a 14-minute flight, and one environmental group isn't pleased with the north London outfit's decision.

Plane Stupid, a network of groups that oppose short-haul flights and the expansion of air travel, has taken umbrage with the wasteful nature of Arsenal's transportation choice.

"Having lived in Norwich and Finsbury Park, I can tell you that this is a distance that you can do in two hours by train, without fueling climate change," Ella Gilbert, a spokesperson for Plane Stupid, told the Evening Standard.

"This is ridiculous. I'm a lifelong Gooner so I'm used to being occasionally embarrassed by my team, but I prefer them to wait until after kickoff before humiliating their supporters. Don't fly to Norwich, the Canaries aren't worth it."
