Manchester United's Luke Shaw to have scan Friday
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that injured full-back Luke Shaw will have a scan on his broken leg Friday to assess a possible timeframe for his return to first-team football.
Shaw, 20, has been sidelined since breaking his right leg in a Champions League match at PSV Eindhoven on Sept. 15, courtesy of a violent tackle from Hector Moreno.

"It is going very good with him but it’s also difficult for him because now the progress is not as much as in the beginning," van Gaal told MUTV, courtesy of the club's official website. "Now, sometimes, he is fed up with the situation and I can imagine that. So I give him now, for example, a few days off because I don’t think the memories of PSV are good for him.
"I wondered if he was fed up because maybe it was the match against PSV and every player has to watch the game in the stadium to support their fellow players."
Since moving from Southampton in 2014, Shaw has had an erratic start to his United career. He overcame doubts about his fitness to kick off the 2015-16 campaign in fine form, before having his promising career sidelined by the horrific leg break.
"Luke Shaw is a very important player," van Gaal continued. "I said in advance that he would be the revelation of this season. Last season was his adaptation season, and he was on his way to doing that."
With that in mind, the manager appears to understand the plight of his injured player.
"So I have given him time off but, on Friday, he has a scan and then we will know more about the injury and how it is going," van Gaal said.
