At some point, Manchester United's performances need to replicate the value of its squad.

Speaking after United and PSV Eindhoven played out a scoreless draw at Old Trafford in the Champions League, Wayne Rooney admitted the Red Devils can no longer ask patience of their supporters, acknowledging that it's time for his club to reach its final form.

"We need to score more goals as a team," Rooney said, according to the Press Association. "I feel we showed a lack of composure which put ourselves under pressure a lot of times. It's a learning curve for us, but we can't keep on saying it's a learning curve. We have to start turning these games into victories."

Rooney, along with Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, and Morgan Schneiderlin, all missed good chances in Wednesday's fixture, and the final whistle triggered boos around the stadium. A victory would have secured United's progression to the Round of 16. Instead, the draw leaves the Red Devils sitting second in Group B on eight points and in need of a result on the final matchday of the group stage, when the club visits top-of-the-group VfL Wolfsburg.
