Steven Gerrard, waiting for his first full season in Major League Soccer to kick off, will pass the time at the club where he spend 17 illustrious years of his professional career.

After Jurgen Klopp invited Gerrard to train with Liverpool in early November, the 35-year-old Englishman, in conversation with BT Sport, confirmed that he is taking the German manager up on his offer.

"I'm going to go in for a couple of weeks and work with Mr. Klopp so I'm really looking forward to that, to see what he's about and try and learn a few things from him," Gerrard said, according to the Press Association.

When Klopp invited Gerrard, he also ruled out any possibility of Gerrard taking the pitch at Anfield one more time, saying: "He is a legend. If he's in Liverpool and wants to train ahead of next season in LA (Los Angeles) that's absolutely no problem. Nothing else." Gerrard echoed Klopp's words, saying, according to ESPN FC: "I've retired from the national team so I don't have to go and prove myself in Europe."

Gerrard's first season in California was somewhat underwhelming, as he tallied two goals and three assists through 14 appearances before the LA Galaxy was ultimately bounced by the Seattle Sounders in the Western Knockout Round of the MLS Cup Playoffs.
