James Milner has been forced to withdraw from the English national team because of an injury that forced him to miss Liverpool's last game, the Premier League team announced.
Liverpool did not disclose the exact nature of the injury, but a report Monday suggested Milner is suffering from a hamstring ailment. He wil miss friendlies against Spain and France.
Milner, who was forced to leave Liverpool's Europa League fixture against Rubin Kazan because of the injury, did not meet the Football Associations fitness criteria and was sent back to the Merseyside to receive treatment.
Liverpool did not reveal whether the injury will keep him out of its first match back from the international break against Manchester City on Nov. 21.
