Sergio Aguero targeting Liverpool visit for return

Manchester City talisman Sergio Aguero has the bonus of the international break to recuperate from a hamstring injury at the Etihad Campus, and is aiming to return for the visit of Liverpool on Nov. 21.

The Argentinian hasn't featured for the Premier League outfit since his record-breaking 20-minute five-goal haul against Newcastle on Oct. 3. The forward's strikes have been missed in M11, with two 0-0 draws in its last three top-flight outings.

"I don't think I'm too far away now," Aguero told the club website. "Physically, I feel good and I've kept as fit as I can during my layoff.

"I still need to work hard for another week and if not this week, then maybe next, I hope to start training with the rest of the lads and so and my target is Liverpool."

The website hints that Wilfried Bony, who's primarily deputised in Aguero's absence, will be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks with a hamstring problem sustained in Sunday's draw at Aston Villa, which would have left teenager Kelechi Iheanacho as the only recognised striker.

Last year's top goal-scorer is looking good for when City entertains Liverpool, though, and Aguero wants to help the table-topper to many victories on his return.

"All games are different and I'm focusing on just getting back and feeling good and if I feel good, hopefully the goals will come again but as I say, the team winning is more important than individual glory."

Following the Premier League meeting with Liverpool, City faces the difficult task of a trip to Juventus in the Champions League.
