Pellegrini defends Hart following howler in Manchester City's win

Manuel Pellegrini wasn't willing to throw Joe Hart under the bus following following a howler that almost cost Manchester City three points.

With less than 10 minutes to go in Saturday's clash with Norwich City, a seemingly innocent cross was sent into the box towards an uncontested Hart. Things went south almost immediately when the English 'keeper failed to get a grip and dropped the ball right into Cameron Jerome's path for the easy equaliser.

"It was unfortunate. Sometimes, these things happen. Joe is human and he can make mistakes," Pellegrini told the team's website. "Apart from that error, there were only two shots at him in the game and he saved those because he is a very good goalkeeper."

Despite the blunder, City were eventually awarded a late penalty and went on to win 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

The victory maintained City's place at the top of the Premier League table with 25 points through 11 matches.
