Aleksandar Kolarov is the latest addition to the lengthy list of Manchester City players to suffer an injury during the international break.

Shortly before he was shown a red card while on the Serbia bench, the left-back sustained an apparent leg injury during his country's 2-1 loss to Portugal in the final match of the 2016 Euro qualifiers.

Kolarov received treatment and appeared to have an ice pack wrapped around his left thigh.

He was then shown a red card for his part in protesting a controversial call from the match official that led to a Portugal goal.

The 29-year-old joins Sergio Aguero and David Silva as City players that have been felled by injuries on international duty. Aguero was forced from Argentina's game against Ecuador with a hamstring tear, while Silva hurt his ankle during a qualifier against Luxembourg.

Kolarov's injury will likely be examined by City's medical staff upon his return to Manchester.
