Arsenal midfield star Mesut Ozil is dreaming of greatness in the form of football's most coveted individual accolade, the FIFA Ballon d'Or.

The German World Cup winner believes his form for club and country can put him in contention for the Golden Ball, awarded to the best player in the world as voted by national team managers and captains, as well as journalists from around the world.

"If I continue to develop well and stay healthy, I would like, in the next few years, to hold the Ballon d’Or in my hands," Ozil told Sport Bild, as quoted by Sky Sports. "I am convinced that it can happen.

"I'm feeling very positive," Ozil continued. "I'm a world champion and I play at a top club in the Premier League. There is much more of a physical test here than there is in Spain or in the Bundesliga. I constantly have bruises, but that makes me harder. I feel physically better than ever."

Ozil is certainly making a case for himself at the Emirates, scoring one goal and recording four assists in seven Premier League games this season. While it's not the most blistering stat sheet, Ozil is an integral part of Arsene Wenger's lineup.

Still, when you compete for the Ballon d'Or alongside the back-and-fourth duo of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, it's going to take something very special to rise to the top.
