Samir Nasri rules out a return to French national team

Even if his father was in charge, Samir Nasri still wouldn't end his boycott of the French national team.

The Manchester City midfielder ruled out ever playing for France in August 2014, after manager Didier Deschamps left him off the country's World Cup squad.

"Even if my dad is coach, I will not return," Nasri told a French television station.

"I've suffered with the selections ... missing a World Cup destroys you a bit. After 2012 I wanted to stop but my father told me I had to play the World Cup. I tried to be good.

"I had a great season with my club before the 2014 World Cup. I had very good stats - it was not enough. No disrespect to anyone but when I saw the list and some of those on it?"

His time with the national team might not be the only aspect of his career that's coming to an end, as his time with Manchester City of late has seen Nasri only make seven appearances in all competitions.

As he continues to sit behind Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne on the team's depth chart, Nasri revealed that he's willing to take his career in a new direction when his stint at the Etihad Stadium ends.

"I do not see myself returning to Ligue 1. I love the Premier League. I like my life in England," said Nasri.

"I see myself going to play in the MLS, to discover something other than France."

A move across the pond, however, will have to wait if Nasri honours the contract he agreed to last summer, which will keep him in Manchester until 2019.
