Wenger confirms Alexis Sanchez suffered groin injury vs. Manchester United

Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez suffered a "little" groin injury in the 3-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Sanchez scored twice against United in his best performance this season, but he left the pitch in the 81st minute for seemingly precautionary reasons.

Manager Arsene Wenger confirmed post-match the substitution was injury-related.

The 26-year-old was called up to play for Chile during the international break, with World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Peru on Oct. 8 and Oct. 13, respectively.

Wenger hopes his star player returns to Arsenal in one piece.

"He has a little groin injury," Wenger said. "Unfortunately he goes to Chile. You cannot stop him from going to Chile and he loves so much to play for his country ... Hopefully he will come back in good shape."

While Sanchez needed time to rediscover his form since winning the Copa America this summer, he now has five goals in eight Premier League matches.
