Cech defends decision to start Ospina in Champions League loss

Petr Cech doesn't share the confusion much of the football world harbours over Arsene Wenger's decision to start David Ospina during Arsenal's Champions League loss to Olympiacos.

Instead, the Czech Republic international defended the longtime Arsenal boss and empathized with the difficult position Wenger's in when distributing playing time to his cast of talented players.

"I believe the manager has full faith in the team he picks and, as player, you have to accept his decision," Cech told Patrick Davison of Sky Sports.

"Do I want to play every game? Yes, I want to play every game. But I also understand it's impossible.

"It's the life of the manager when you make a decision and the team doesn't win, the pressure comes. But that's part of the life of a manager and footballers as well."

Ospina had a dreadful game against the Greek side and was the centre of all the negative attention following the team's 3-2 loss, with many pointing to his blunder when a corner-kick attempt fell out of his hands and over the goal line.

Cech, meanwhile, should get a chance to earn a starting spot for future Champions League games if he gets the nod in net during the team's important clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
