Angelo Ogbonna ruled out for West Ham's trip to Manchester City

West Ham United will be without Angelo Ogbonna in Saturday's away game at Manchester City due to a hamstring injury.

The problem was sustained during Monday's 2-0 home win over Newcastle United and the trip to the northwest has come too soon for the former Juventus centre-back.

The club website has tipped James Tomkins to move into a more central role while Carl Jenkinson will slot in at right-back.

The injury is a Hammer blow for boss Slaven Bilic as the Italian international had started all five Premier League games so far this season, and West Ham has to cope with the riches of City's forward line - including Sergio Aguero, who is 100 percent fit following a kick to his knee.

Goalkeeper Adrian is also available following suspension, but may struggle to win back his place in the side considering the consecutive clean sheets for Darren Randolph in his absence.

Alex Song, Enner Valencia, and Joey O'Brien are still also out.

Ahead of City's visit, West Ham has also bolstered its backroom staff in the appointment of Nikola Jurcevic as assistant manager. The 49-year-old is a former international teammate of Bilic and is looking forward to a new chapter in his coaching career.

"I know it is a big opportunity for me and I am happy to work in the Premier League, live in London and work for a big club like West Ham," he told whufc.com.
