Fenerbahce to make 'serious' push for Arsenal's Mesut Ozil, agent says

Fenerbahce is scouring the Premier League once again as the Turkish club appears set to make a bid for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.

Agent Erkut Sogut claims Fenerbahce is genuinely interested in acquiring his client, but adds that such a decision to leave Arsenal, whom Ozil joined in 2013 from Real Madrid, is a monumental decision for the 26-year-old.

"Fenerbahce are serious but it all depends on what answer Arsenal give. It will all become clear at the end of the season," Sogut told Turkish outlet Takvim. "At Arsenal, Mesut is very successful in his performances.

"It's too early to talk right now. But you cannot know the conditions. Fenerbahce seem serious about Mesut.

"However, leaving Arsenal for Fenerbahce could be a serious choice for him. They are one of Turkey's biggest clubs."

Ozil, whose parents come from Turkey, has been a controversial figure since his £42.5-million move to London, with his perceived lack of effort coming into question, seemingly, on a weekly basis.

He has, however, been quoted as saying he'd welcome a move to the Super Lig team, saying it would be an "honour" and that it's a well-known fact that he supports Fenerbahce.

Interest in Ozil follows Fenerbahce's acquisition of Robin van Persie after it lured the out-of-favour Dutch striker away from Manchester United.
