Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood pulls his hamstring kicking water bottles

It's been over ten years since Tim Sherwood gave up on his playing career, so he probably doesn't see the use in warming up anymore.

Considering his touchline theatrics, though, maybe the Aston Villa boss should join his team in its pre-match stretches.

With the scoreline at 2-2 against Sunderland on Saturday, the three-time England international was angered by the referee not awarding a penalty after Carles Gil was felled in the area. It would have put his side on its way to a vital three points.

Vexed by the missed opportunity, Sherwood took his frustration out on some water bottles with an aggressive backheel. The former midfielder, who won a Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers in 1995, did not walk away from the incident unscathed.

"I was going to kick the water bottles forward but there were too many people so I thought I'd be polite and backheel them, and that has done my hamstring bad," he told reporters after the match.

Sherwood claimed that he never sustained a hamstring injury in his playing days, and acknowledged that he must have looked like a "spoilt brat."

"I tell my kids not to behave like that but you know when you don't get what you deserve, everybody sulks don't they, or is that just me?"

Villa's next game is a trip to Leicester City in two weeks, which should give enough time for Sherwood to recuperate from his injury.

The fate of the water bottles is unknown.
