Report: Liverpool's Lazar Markovic set to join Fenerbahce on loan
Liverpool has agreed to send winger Lazar Markovic on loan to Turkish club Fenerbahce just a year after signing the Serbian for £20 million, according to Andy Hunter of the Guardian.
Markovic made just 11 starts in the Premier League last year, scoring twice and failing to replicate his form at Benfica. He has not featured on any team sheet this term.
Liverpool is clearly not ready to give up on the 21-year-old, however, as the deal with Fenerbahce doesn't include an option to buy the player.
Mario Balotelli joined AC Milan on a similar deal this week, but those terms were reportedly proposed by the Italian club and not Liverpool.
In this case, the Reds want Markovic back, and they're hoping the move to Fenerbahce will give him the time to develop.
