Danny Welbeck set for Arsenal return in September after international break

Reuters

Arsenal will get a boost on the injury front when Danny Welbeck becomes available for selection in September.

Manager Arsene Wenger revealed that the striker's recovery from a knee injury is progressing well and that Welback is expected to make a return to first-team action next month after the international break.

The timetable indicates Welbeck will be available for Arsenal's encounter with Stoke City on Sept. 12, or against Chelsea a week later.

The 24-year-old has been prevented from playing this season after injuring his knee during preseason. It was the same injury that forced him to miss the final weeks of last season.

Injuries contributed to an underwhelming debut campaign at the Emirates Stadium, as Welbeck only managed to score four goals in 25 matches following his transfer from Manchester United.
