Sergio Perez: Leads FP1 in Bahrain

The first practice session of the 2023 season ended with Red Bull on top of the timesheets as Perez set the fastest lap over Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso in Free Practice 1 for the Bahrain Grand Prix, Formula1.com reports.

Analysis:

Perez put down a lap of 1:32.758 on soft tyres in this early-afternoon session. He would beat out Alonso by a comfortable four-tenths to lead FP1. Red Bull Racing showed extraordinary pace during last week's pre-season testing at it appears that Perez was pulling no punches. He has the pace to take the pole Saturday at the Sakhir circuit.
