Chevrolet drivers would work together late and supplant the Fords atop the scoring pylon in this opening practice at Daytona. Johnson would lead the way with a trunk full of Chase Elliott not far behind. His lap of 194+ mph would top the scoring pylon and lead the session. Johnson's Chevrolet didn't look strong in single-car qualifying runs, but it appears to be very fast in race trim when working with other Chevrolets.
