Loic Remy aiming for regular playing time with Chelsea

Loic Remy is setting the bar high for his second season with Chelsea.

The French striker says he is aiming for an increased role with the defending Premier League champions after his first season at Stamford Bridge saw him feature in a reduced role behind Diego Costa.

Besides Costa, Remy also faces the challenge of competing against summer signing Radamel Falcao for playing time, as the Colombian forward looks to revive his career following a dismal season with Manchester United.

"I want to bring everything I can to the team and I just want to do more as I think this season will be more difficult than the previous one," Remy revealed, according to Sky Sports News HQ.

"So, all the players must be better than last season and I just want to be better, play more and score more."

Although it seems Chelsea are set up-front with Costa, manager Jose Mourinho explained earlier in the summer that the forward position is up for grabs and hopes competition among his trio of strikers will motivate them to win the starting job.

"It is open competition between the three (strikers). That's our objective, that's why we want three strikers ready and important," Mourinho said in June amid speculation Remy would be sold following Falcao's loan move from AS Monaco.

Remy's seven league goals last season were the third most behind Costa (20) and Eden Hazard (14) for the team lead.
