Marseille signs midfielder Abou Diaby

Perpetually-injured free agent midfielder Abou Diaby has signed with Marseille after reportedly turning down a move to West Bromwich Albion.

The club's official Twitter account announced the news Tuesday. Further information about the terms of the deal were not provided.

The 29-year-old lanky defensive midfielder joins his friend Lassana Diarra, who recently signed with the south coast side, in hopes of regaining the form that saw Diaby join Arsenal from Auxerre in 2006.

The ex-Arsenal player, who spent nine seasons on the books at the North London club, was offered a second chance at Premier League football by West Brom manager Tony Pulis, but according to Sky Sports, Diaby declined, instead choosing to join Marseille.

Multiple reports out of France suggested that Diaby had returned to France earlier this week in hopes of securing a deal with Olympique Marseille who were looking to strengthen their squad following the departures of key players Andre-Pierre Gignac (Tigres), Andre Ayew (Swansea City), Giannelli Imbula (FC Porto) and Dimitri Payet (West Ham).
