Aston Villa announces signing of Jose Angel Crespo from Cordoba
Aston Villa announced the signing of Jose Angel Crespo on Tuesday, as the versatile defender, who is joining the club from Cordoba, put pen to paper on a three-year deal after completing his medical at Bodymoor Heath.
The announcement comes one day after Cordoba confirmed that the club had reached an agreement with Villa for the transfer of Crespo, who made 27 La Liga appearances last season, averaging 5.3 clearances, 2.2 interceptions, and 2.1 tackles per game.
"Jose is a player who has played in La Liga and Serie A, two of the strongest leagues in Europe, and from speaking to him I know he can't wait to play for Aston Villa," manager Tim Sherwood said.
With the addition of Crespo, Aston Villa has now made seven acquisitions in the summer transfer window.
