Manchester United's interest in bringing Sergio Romero to Old Trafford likely spells the end to Victor Valdes's brief time with the Premier League club.
The Argentine goalkeeper could become the team's newest backup as United edge closer to signing Romero as Valdes's replacement, league sources told ESPNFC.
Romero has reportedly already agreed to a three-year contract with United, and will join the team on a free transfer after his contract with Sampdoria expires.
The decision to bring in Romero comes after manager Louis van Gaal indicated Valdes is free to leave the team after refusing to comply with the Dutch boss' philosophy.
