Tottenham's Hugo Lloris diagnosed with fractured wrist

Tottenham were dealt a devastating blow Monday with news that Hugo Lloris suffered a fractured wrist, the team announced.

His status for the start of the season could be in jeopardy because of the injury as Michel Vorm could be asked to begin the season as the team's starter.

Despite the injury, however, the team said Lloris will continue to work with the first team during their preseason training session in a bid to ensure he's ready for the start of the season.

It would appear to be an optimistic proposition considering the team is less than a month away from opening the season. Whether he's ready or not, Tottenham's season-opener Aug. 8, when they visit Manchester United at Old Trafford, is quickly approaching.

It's the second major injury the French 'keeper has suffered since March when he injured his knee during a collision with teammate Kyle Walker. Although he was forced to miss a month of action, Lloris was able to return and finish the season.

Lloris, who joined Tottenham from Lyon in 2012, appeared in 35 Premier League matches during the 2014-15 campaign to help the north London side finish fifth in the table with 64 points.
