Yaya Toure calls for more Manchester City signings

Yaya Toure is urging Manchester City to increase its efforts on the transfer market.

With just one signing since the transfer window opened, the Ivorian is hopeful his team will add to its squad, as several other Premier League teams have brought in significant pieces since the season ended.

"I hope maybe in a couple of days new players come and make this club a top team next year and so something big for this club," Toure said in an interview on the team's website, courtesy of ESPNFC.

The club have been connected to their fair share of elite players, including VfL Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin de Bruyne and want-away midfielder Raheem Sterling, with whom City have reportedly submitted three separate bids in an effort to pry him away from Liverpool.

Yet they have only completed a deal for 18-year-old Turkish striker Enes Unal.

Toure touched on the club's disappointing finish to the season, when they saw their dreams of defending the Premier League crown fade away with a series of poor results in the final weeks.

"The club has been built to top this league and when we finish in second it is quite disappointing. We want to bounce back. This club don't have to be second or third. We always have to finish first.

"We know it will be difficult because we have opponents like Chelsea, Arsenal, even Liverpool can do it, (Manchester) United will do it. For us the main key is to try and regain the title this year. It will be difficult but we know we can do it."
