Forgive French 'keeper Hugo Lloris if he's a little confused after Raymond Domenech attempted to give him some career advice.

Domenach, the former manager of the French national team, had specific suggestions as he advised the Tottenham netminder to leave the North London club, warning him to avoid joining Premier League rivals Manchester United in favour of the league's other top teams.

"I have no decision to take for him, but in my opinion he has to play in Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester City, to play in the European Cup," Domenech told French media, courtesy of ESPNFC.

"Tottenham is a big club - it is not the biggest. Manchester United qualified for the Champions League, but I can't see really the difference with Tottenham.

"For me, it's Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester City. Because I think Manchester United is no more a big club, in England, for me. I think like that."

While United supporters surely won't appreciate Domenech's suggestion that they've lost their place among England's elite, they might be the only team with a roster spot by the end of the summer.

None of the three teams Domenech mentioned will be in need of a 'keeper anytime soon:. Arsenal just signed Petr Cech, while Chelsea and Manchester City look set with Thibaut Courtois and Joe Hart, respectively.

Meanwhile, Manchester United may be in need of a 'keeper as David de Gea edges closer to a move away from Old Trafford.
