Schweinsteiger hints at return to Bayern Munich despite Manchester United interest

The quest to win a historic fourth straight Bundesliga title is a dream of Bastian Schweinsteiger - and subsequently a nightmare for Manchester United supporters.

The German international expressed his desire to be on the first team to accomplish the feat, likely ending links to United as Schweinsteiger appears set to suit up for Bayern Munich for a 13th season.

"We've won the Bundesliga for three consecutive times, no team ever has managed to win it four times. That's a motivation," the midfielder told German TV station Sport1, courtesy of Sky Sports.

Although Schweinsteiger has been linked with a move to United since the conclusion of the season, the World Cup winner has yet to discuss his future outside of confirming his commitment to Bayern.

Manager Louis van Gaal identified the 30-year-old as a target during his summer of replenishing the club's talent pool, but Schweinsteiger's evasive answers when asked about transfer rumours likely mean he'll call the Allianz Arena home next season.

Remaining with Bayern is probably his best chance at continuing to win trophies at a ridiculous pace after helping Germany and Bayern capture the sport's biggest titles.

He dispelled speculation about any diminished appetite for success after winning the World Cup, Champions League, and the Bundesliga in a three-year window.

"I would love to win the Champions League once again," he said. "Winning big trophies like the Champions League or the World Cup is usually making people think, 'The player are not hungry any more.' Still that's not what I feel."
