Lewis Hamilton: Protesting Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Mercedes have protested the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix final classification, citing a breach of two articles in the Sporting Regulations. It comes after a dramatic race that was won by Max Verstappen after he passed Hamilton on the final lap to take victory - and with it a first world title, Formula1.com reports.
Analysis:
After the season finale ended, Mercedes has launched two protests. The team alleges a breach of F1 sporting regulations regarding the last minute reversal of decision regarding the lapped cars. The other protest is regarding drivers overtaking other cars on the track, including the Safety Car, until they pass the line for the first time after the Safety Car returns to the pits. It seems Team Mercedes has grounds for these protests and it will be interesting to see how Formula One handles the situation in light of the outcome of the race.
