Petr Cech to start Chelsea's next match, Mourinho says

Petr Cech will get an opportunity to start between the sticks one last time when Chelsea visit the The Hawthornes to play West Brom despite dealing with a minor injury.

It will be a rare appearance for the 34-year-old Czech international, who looks set to depart the club during the summer. Cech had a frustrating year on the bench after Thibaut Courtois took over the starting duties to begin the season.

Manager Jose Mourinho confirmed the start, but insisted the decision was not intended to be a final send-off for the 'keeper who's called Stamford Bridge home since 2004.

"Cech's is a small injury but we don’t want players to end the season with problems. Against West Brom if he is fine he plays, but he plays because he deserves it, not because it’s goodbye," Mourinho explained to reporters after a 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

"I still believe next season he will be with us. He was supposed to play today, he knew that."

Cech has been rumoured to be interested in a summer move in order to resume regular playing time, with Arsenal, Inter Milan and Roma reportedly interested in procuring his services. Arsenal, however, might be the unlikeliest landing spot because of Mourinho's preference to avoid selling Cech to a Premier League rival.
