Coloccini denies reports of fighting on Newcastle bus
Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini denied reports of a scuffle between players on the team bus following the club's disappointing loss to Leicester City last weekend.
Reports of an altercation surfaced in the days following Newcastle's performance where they lost 3-0 loss at the King Power Stadium on May 2, with suggestions that frustrations boiled over between players during the journey back from the East Midlands.
Coloccini, however, attempted to clear the air and restore the unity among the team when he addressed the incident in the Newcastle program sold before the team's encounter with West Bromwich Albion:
The dressing room after the game was angry at the result and the performance.
However, I have read things this week that said there was fighting between the players in the dressing room and on the bus. That is not true at all.
Everything that was said was positive and constructive as everyone is trying their best to push the team back up the league.
The Argentine centre back went on to outline the numerous team meetings that have been held, which he describes as productive, and reiterated the desire among the players to fight for their Premier League survival.
Newcastle are currently hovering around relegation territory thanks to their failure to register a league win since February.
