Cesc Fabregas calls Jose Mourinho 'the best manager' after winning Premier League
At long last, Cesc Fabregas holds a Premier League title to his name.
A 1-0 win versus Crystal Palace on Sunday saw Chelsea claim their fourth title of the Premier League era and their first since 2009-10. On a personal level, the accomplishment allowed Fabregas to celebrate his 28th birthday on Monday with an honour that had eluded him in his eight seasons at Arsenal.
Fabregas credited the title to manager Jose Mourinho, who was responsible for convincing the Spanish midfielder to join his side after Arsenal waived first refusal at re-signing the player from Barcelona, in conversation with Chelsea TV.
"I can understand the pressure he's under," Fabregas said, according to the Guardian. "He's the best manager and he has to get results and he always manages to do that. With any squad he's been with he's always managed to get results, to get his team to be champion and that's the sign of a real winner, a real professional."
Despite a dip in form in the second half of the season, Fabregas leads the Premier League in assists by a mile, having notched 17 throughout the campaign. Angel Di Maria and Gylfi Sigurdsson rank second in the category with 10 each.
