Charles Leclerc: Wins Monaco Pole

Leclerc delivered on Ferrari's shock Monaco Grand Prix pace to take a brilliant pole position in his home race - but his delight was tempered slightly when he ended the session in the barriers, Formula1.com reports.

Analysis:

It was a shocking turn of events for Leclerc to upset the stars of the series and jump to the top of the speed charts, but then equally shocking to see him smash into the Armco barrier as the session was entering it's final moments. Leclerc's wreck would deny Lewis Hamilton a shot of knocking him off the pole position, but the damage to the No. 16 Ferrari will require quite a bit of repairs. It was Ferrari's first pole position since the 2019 Mexican Grand Prix.
