Alex Bowman: Third in QuikTrip 500

Bowman finished third in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon.

Analysis:

Bowman was one of the surprise performers of the afternoon in this 500-mile battle. The driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet started 14th on the grid and quickly raced into the Top 10. Bowman would run there the rest of the event and race among the leaders. He didn't have the speed to get into the lead, but Bowman would settle in a forge a strong third-place finish at the conclusion of 500 miles. It was his first Top-5 finish of the season.
