Vincent Kompany dealing with groin injury, scan will determine severity
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is suffering from a groin injury, the severity of which will likely be determined by a scan in the coming days.
The Belgian defender was forced to leave his side's 4-2 loss to Manchester United on Sunday at half-time, and after the contest manager Manuel Pellegrini said it was Kompany's decision to remove himself from the derby.
"Vincent didn't work the whole week with normality, he just the last two days. He just has a problem with his groin," Pellegrini said. "He said at half-time he couldn't continue."
As Pellegrini alluded to, Kompany went into the match with niggling injuries that limited his participation in training during the week - a common theme for the big defender this season, as he has been hampered by various muscle problems.
