Borussia Dortmund apparently aren't willing to go down without a fight after offering Mats Hummels a new contract.

The offer was reportedly made in an effort to stave off interest from Manchester United, according to Pete Jensen of the Daily Mail.

The Premier League club have been connected with the German international for much of the season and appear to be the only team Hummels is willing to sign with if he chooses to leave Dortmund.

Hummels, who has two years remaining on his current deal, has insisted for months that he has yet to decide on his future destination, seemingly offering optimistic hints to both camps throughout the season.

Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke continues to look ahead to the team's future with Hummels as an anchor on the back line, but did not confirm an offer was made when speaking with German publication Kicker.

"We continue to plan with him," Watzke said. "We will continue our dialogue with Mats regarding our collaboration."

With Dortmund's early-season struggles, Hummels may elected to join United in order to play in the Champions League next season, as the Premier League club are reportedly willing to splash £30 million to lure him away from the Bundesliga.
